Mechanic Shop Supervisor

The Mechanic Shop Supervisor is responsible for leading evening fleet maintenance operations and supervising a team of 3–4 mechanics. This role requires strong mechanical and diagnostic expertise, effective workflow management, and hands‑on experience with Ford service systems and fleet management software. The supervisor ensures that vehicle repairs, recalls, and software updates are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all safety and operational standards.

Schedule

  • Availability: Monday – Sunday
  • Shift: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Key Responsibilities of a Mechanic Shop Supervisor: 

  • Supervise and direct the daily work activities of 3–4 mechanics during the swing shift.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting on fleet vehicles.
  • Utilize Ford SDRS to complete vehicle recalls and required software updates.
  • Monitor, track, and manage maintenance activities using Fleetio.
  • Research repair procedures, diagnostics, and technical service information using ProDemand.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for repairs, inspections, recalls, and software updates.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and maintenance standards.
  • Provide hands‑on support and guidance to mechanics on complex repairs and diagnostic challenges.
  • Communicate with management regarding fleet condition, repair progress, timelines, and operational needs.

Required Qualifications of a Mechanic Shop Supervisor:

  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic experience with automotive or fleet vehicles.
  • Experience using Ford SDRS (Software Diagnostic and Repair System).
  • Familiarity with Fleetio or similar fleet management systems.
  • Experience using ProDemand or comparable repair information platforms.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role or as a lead mechanic overseeing technicians.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple repairs simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with fleet vehicles or in a transportation‑based environment.
  • ASE certifications or equivalent technical certifications.
  • Experience monitoring shop productivity and maintenance performance reporting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fleet maintenance shop environment and requires standing for extended periods, lifting equipment and components, and working around vehicles, tools, and mechanical systems.
